I (Travis) teamed up with fellow Azul wedding photographer Jason for Jacqueline and Tom’s amazing wedding. We drove from our home base in Raleigh to the historic Carolina Inn in Chapel Hill.
I spent the getting ready time with the girls, while Jason was hanging out with the guys. Shortly after Jacqueline’s shoes went on (with well wishes from her bridesmaids written on the bottoms), Tom stopped by the room…sort of. They had planned a “blind first look“ where they exchanged cards around the door to the suite. It made for a nice moment as the bridesmaids hooted, hollered, laughed and cried while they watched the scene.
They had a beautiful ceremony outside, and the weather could not have been better. One of the highlights for me was when the Clef Hangers from UNC stopped by for a little a cappella musical entertainment. That was a first for me and made this ceremony pretty memorable.
After the official business of getting married was over we had a few spots to do portraits around town, but their crew was quick, and we finished a little faster than normal. Jacqueline herself was great at helping to move everything along (I wouldn’t mind bringing her along to all of my weddings). After all the family pictures were done at the Carolina Inn the bridal party hopped on a couple Elite Coach shuttles and headed for Jacqueline’s Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority house, and then on to the Old Well.
The reception was stunning in the Grand Hill Ballroom at the Carolina Inn. The detail that went into making everything feel so nice was thanks in part to the awesome planners at A Southern Soiree. They had a charity favor table with UNC colored popsicle sticks, personalized chocolates, a stunning, ornate cake from Art of Cake, beautiful flower arrangements from Tre Bella, and much, much more. The photo booth from Shutterbooth was a hit, as they always are, especially when props are involved. There was one hilarious moment that stuck with me. When Tom threw the garter over his head it actually got stuck in one of the chandeliers. It was retrieved without damage.
Thanks so much to Tom and Jacqueline for allowing me to capture this day for the two of you. It was a blast and congratulations!
