Two photojournalists. one shared vision.
Before Azul, we built our careers as photojournalists, learning to anticipate moments, work calmly under pressure and tell stories without getting in the way.
We met while covering the ACC Tournament, fell in love, got married and eventually combined our experience to create Azul Photography.
For more than 15 years, we’ve photographed weddings, families, people, events and organizations with the same approach that first drew us to photojournalism: pay attention, anticipate what matters and let real moments happen.
Our work is polished, but never overly produced. We offer direction when it helps, step back when the moment needs room and create photographs that bring you back to what it actually felt like.
CHRISTOBAL
Christobal is an award-winning photojournalist whose career includes staff positions with The News & Observer and The Houston Chronicle. His assignments have taken him around the world covering the Olympics, the Super Bowl and major international news stories. His photography has earned multiple Pulitzer Prize nominations, finalist recognition and a National Headliner Award.
That experience still shapes the way he photographs today: anticipating moments, working calmly in fast-moving situations and finding the story without getting in the way.
KATHLEEN
Kathleen studied photojournalism at UNC–Chapel Hill, where she photographed for and served as photo editor of The Daily Tar Heel. She later worked as a photojournalist and web designer with Nando Media, the digital division of The News & Observer, before co-founding Azul. She brings a documentary eye, a love of storytelling and a strong sense of design to the way Azul photographs and presents each story.
“My Husband and I are Azul disciples, spreading the good news to everyone we know! They are wonderful photographers and wonderful people! We had high expectations for our pictures and we definitely were not disappointed.”
