As a wedding photographer, each weekend is an amazing new experience. Liz & Zach’s wedding was just that… amazing!
It all started off with bridesmaids dog piling on the bed when I arrived at the Renaissance Hotel in north Raleigh. Liz never stopped smiling and laughing with her friends while I was there. The bridesmaids were telling jokes and having a great time with one another as make-up was being applied by Fiquit with Luxe. The guys were all business putting on their tuxes and helping one another getting organized and out the door to the limo.
The ceremony location was at the historic St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, which was established as a mission church in the early 1950’s. As I pulled up to the church, I ran into one of the best florists in our area, Cydney, with The English Garden. She was dropping off bouquets & boutonnieres for the bridal party prior to the wedding. Every single piece looked spectacular. Inside the church, you could hear the violin being played by Liz’s brother. He was preparing for the big event as the flowers were being placed inside the sanctuary.
Documenting a wedding at this church is always a challenge, but we at Azul love challenges. The rules are that you are not allowed to take pictures inside the church during the ceremony, but you can shoot through the glass door (which is exactly what I did). The 45-minute ceremony ended with a kiss and a large smile from Liz as she walked out the large double doors with Zach. Our family portrait session quickly followed and then we headed over to the reception site, North Ridge Country Club, ahead of schedule.
The bride and groom took to the dance floor and started off the reception with Elvis‘s “Love me Tender.” A two-course dinner followed along with dancing, toasts, cake cutting and more dancing. The Stoneage Romeos kept the party going though out the night which even got Zach’s grandfather dancing the night away.
