Terri & Jake | Chapel Hill Wedding - Azul Wedding Photography Raleigh NC

When Terri’s sister found out that she was looking for a wedding photographer in Raleigh she said, “If Azul is available, book them quick.” Terri and Jake didn’t hesitate and we are so glad. Upon first meeting Terri and Jake, I knew their wedding was going to be great, due to their great views on life and wonderful personalities.

The wedding and reception were held at the historic Carolina Inn, where we absolutely love to shoot. Katie with Le Féte was the coordinator and she kept the fun-filled day in check. Fresh Affairs supplied phenomenal florals, while Cinda brought an amazing cake to the party. The other documentary team on duty was Inkspot Crow, whom we believe to be one of the best film makers on the East Coast.

Travis and I (Christobal) arrived to the bride’s room a little early to find Ginger placing the final touches on hair & make-up. Friends steadily made their way to see the bride getting ready for her “first look” with Jake. A first look is when the bride & groom see each other before the wedding and take pictures together. Their first look was funny, fun and emotional. Terri was escorted out of the hotel to a waiting Jake in the grassy knoll. As soon as Terri walked out, she saw him and said “Hey, nice butt!” Giving all of us a great laugh. Jake laughed and smiled with a thumbs up as she approached. They spent a couple of quiet moments together before we moved forward to family and bridal party portraits.

The day also included a Ketubah signing. The Ketubah, traditionally spells out the husband’s obligation to his wife, everything from sustaining her with basic necessities to honoring and cherishing her. Close friends and family members filled the room and held hands as the rabbi spoke to the couple. All eyes were on the sitting couple as they winked and smiled at one another through the ceremony. Even though the Ketubah is signed, the couple was not yet considered married until the chuppah ceremony. Which is where we headed next.

A beautiful chuppah was waiting for the couple inside The Carolina Inn. Strings played as Terri walked down the aisle to her future husband. A beautiful ceremony followed with the breaking of the glass and “Masaltoff!” The couple beamed as they walked down the aisle for the first time as husband and wife.

The reception was the best! Lots of dancing, drinking, great food, toasts and more dancing. The highlight of the night was the horah when Terri and Jake were lifted in the air by their friends and family members. Gentlemen and Their Lady band kept the dance floor busy, while the bar kept the drinks flowing. It was an amazing day for a wedding and perfect night for a reception at The Carolina Inn.
