Madeleine & Derek | St. Francis & TPC Wakefield Plantation Wedding

I (Travis) spent St. Patrick’s Day 2012 with Madeleine and Derek for their wedding in Raleigh.  Turns out I could have met Madeleine many years earlier – we were in the same class at Wake Forest University – while I was studying to be a photographer.  There aren’t too many of us Demon Deacons out there, and I’m so glad we finally met, particularly on such a big day.

Their ceremony was held at St. Francis of the Assisi and the reception was at TPC Wakefield. Both are beautiful sites. Coincidentally, I’ll be back at TPC Wakefield as a wedding guest this weekend, and I can’t wait. It was my first opportunity to work on-site with coordinator Megan Gillikan, with a Southern Soiree, who did a great job pulling everything together and incorporating the St. Patty’s theme with shamrock necklaces for their guests and a Bailey’s themed ice sculpture to chill nightcaps.  To top it off, their DJ, Mark McNally, is from Belfast, Ireland.

The most memorable moment for me was when Derek, in one of his more acrobatic dance moves, split the back of his tuxedo pants.  Rather than hiding in shame or taping it up, Derek unashamedly rocked those pants for the rest of the night.  That’s his personality, and his antics (including lifting guests into his arms) made this a pretty memorable St. Patrick’s Day for me.

Congratulations Madeleine and Derek!
