Marianne & James | Duke Chapel & RTP Hilton Wedding

I (Travis) headed over to my wife’s alma mater to be the photographer at Marianne and James’ wedding at the Duke Chapel in Durham, NC. One of the cool things about a wedding there is that it doesn’t take much sprucing up… what an epic place to get married.
One of the first things I noticed when the bridal party arrived was how the yellow flowers popped beautifully off of those bluish purple dresses the bridesmaids were wearing. It was so striking that even, Blanche, the wedding director at the chapel, couldn’t resist snapping a few pictures for her scrapbook during the portrait session.
The chapel hosts many weddings every year, however the scene of a wedding party coming out of that impressive building still draws a lot of attention.  As Marianne and James walked to their limo I heard a couple passers-by chattering, “who is that?” as if a couple celebrities were getting hitched.

After the ceremony, we fired off some more portraits of the happy couple and zipped over to the reception at the RTP Hilton.  I love a fun, playful, coordinated first dance (especially when I get a little heads up like I did in this case). James and Marianne really amped up the crowd with their first dance, but James wasn’t done there.  He also threw some twists into the dance with his mom, keeping everyone entertained, myself included.

Congratulations to Marianne and James on a beautiful wedding and a long happy future together!
